Farmhouse style in the laundry room!

Hi friends!  Back in October of 2011, I shared photos of our updated laundry room - see that post here.  I went from kind of a garden theme to more of a clean, farmhouse feel.  If you look back at the photos you will notice that I avoided taking a photo of the door that leads to the garage.  I hated the door - it was solid and very plain.  I've been searching for an antique door with more character for quite some time.  I finally found the PERFECT door and couldn't be happier!

I love being able to see out the windows.  I love entering our home by turning an antique glass door knob.  I love the farmhouse feel of the door.

We don't know if this will be our forever home or not, but I'm pretty sure this door is going with us if we move!

Gallery Walls

I love gallery walls!  I love pretty much every gallery wall I've ever seen.  The options are endless - there are no real rules - and you can definitely "color outside the lines" when it comes to gallery walls. We recently completed two different gallery walls in the shop:

You can see in the second photo that we used lots of different items and mixed several styles.  When you hang the first few things you may doubt it, but just keep going - gallery walls turn out great!

Christmas comes early for shop keepers!

Hi friends!  It's November, the time change has occurred, and Texas is experiencing a cool down - that's a recipe for burning Fall-scented candles and decorating mantles!  I know it also makes many of you giddy just thinking about the upcoming Holidays and that decking the halls is on your mind!  I'll be honest...I wasn't quite ready to say goodbye to summer, I hate the time change and I'm pretty sure my tan isn't going to last thru November.  Can I get an "Amen" from any other summer girls out there?!

Despite my concerns about mild seasonal depression and reduction in Vitamin D (ha!), we cheerfully decorated the shop for Christmas!  Yes, we are fully stocked with Christmas items for every style from whimsical to traditional.  We are your source for gifts too - don't forget your hair stylist and teachers!  And let's not just skip over Thanksgiving - we have gorgeous serving pieces and other decor items for that little gem of a holiday too.

For your gift list - we carry:
LUX & Candleberry candles (both made in the USA)
ABC Scripture Cards
MudPie for baby and home
The Home T shirts featuring Texas (amazing!)
Wickman candle accessories
plus antiques & vintage - something new every weekend!

SHOP LOCATION:
6454 Cross Timbers
Flower Mound, TX

SHOP HOURS:
Thur & Fri 5:30-8:30

What's been keeping me so busy?

Hi friends!  I don't feel like it's been that long since I posted, but somehow it's been over two months! Is time flying like that for all of you too?!

We have been super busy with the shop.  We celebrated our 1-year anniversary in April!  The first year went by in a flash and we had so much fun and felt so incredibly blessed.  We have some of the best frequent customers!  We have learned a great deal and have been open to trying new things. Several gift lines have been added by popular demand.  That wasn't initially in my plan, but it's been FUN and we have brought in some great items.  I shop small and Southern as much as possible!

I thought I'd share a few recent photos of the shop:

In other news, I have done a little clean-up on my blog.  I deleted links from my sidebar if they hadn't posted in a year or more.  I also added several new links that you will enjoy!

My hydrangea tree in full bloom!

Hi friends!  A couple of posts ago I shared photos of my hydrangeas and my new hydrangea tree - see that post here.  I promised to share photos when my tree was in full bloom.  Take a look - it was planted 11 weeks ago - I'm thrilled with how well it's doing!

A quick update on my hydrangeas

Hi friends & Happy Father's Day to the dads and granddads!

It's that hydrangea time of year!

Hi friends!  Gosh, I haven't done a post since Easter - time flies when you're having fun...!  If you've been hanging out here at Southern Charm Cottage long you know how I love my hydrangea shrubs.  I have two areas in my backyard devoted to hydrangeas.  And about 4 weeks ago I decided to try a hydrangea tree!  I never knew hydrangea trees existed until our recent trip to Natchez, MS.  See my post on Natchez here.

This is from my first section of hydrangea shrubs - planted 2-3 years ago:

This is from my second section - planted just last year:

And here is my hydrangea tree at week 4.  It came looking like dead sticks so I'm pretty thrilled with this progress!

Follow me on Instagram @sacullum and search #hydrangeatree to see weeks 1 thru 4 and more to come on my hydrangea tree!

Natchez, Mississippi!

Just returned from a lovely visit to Natchez, MS - it was a birthday trip for my mom!  We arrived at the very end of the Spring Pilgrimage and were able to tour a couple of the gorgeous, history-filled Antebellum homes.

We stayed at a B&B which I think must be one of the best choices in town - The Burn.  The grounds were just stunning.  We could not get over the size of the Camellias and Azaleas - they just don't get that tall here at home.  We also loved seeing the Dogwoods.

Enjoy these pictures of our trip:

Happy Spring!

Yesterday was the first day of Spring and that makes me giddy!  I've noticed new growth on my hydrangeas and my Japanese Maples are budding - so exciting! And not only that, but my favorite holiday is coming soon!

I thought you might enjoy seeing our Spring/Easter table at the shop.

Hope you all have a great weekend!
