Good to be home!

We just returned from several days in Steamboat Springs, Colorado for Son #2's baseball world series.  We had a wonderful trip - the boys did awesome in the tournament, perfect weather, beautiful scenery, fun activities and great meals.
This was taken on a hike at Fish Creek Falls.

Steamboat Springs is a very active community.  There are endless opportunities for outdoor activities - hiking, biking, rafting, fishing, etc.  There are hot springs, a rodeo and a Farmer's Market on Saturdays.
This is what the ski slopes look like in the summer.
On the way home we drove through Winter Park and saw the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.
The spray off this waterfall was a treat after the long hike.
It's fun to travel, but I'm always so happy to see the roadside sign that says "Welcome to Texas"!
Taken from the moutain after riding the gondola up.

I love bluebonnets.  I love our State flag.  I love Texas and I'm happy to call it home!

A new love

I never thought I'd say I found my new love online...well sortof.  It was actually a listing on Craigslist for an antique backplate - like off of a buffet or sideboard.  Bad news - it was in Greenville, TX which is about an hour-and-a-half away.  Good news - it was at a store so I was able to call and give my credit card number to hold it.  Sweet!  I did not take a "before" picture but it was so sad - dirty, dry and dull.  I just knew it could be made beautiful again and honestly, it turned out better than I expected.

I hung it in our master bathroom - above the double doors that lead to our closet.

Here is a zoomed out shot so you can see how it complements the antique frame that hangs above our garden tub.

Another new-old treasure...love it!

What do you sell?

I get asked this question a lot.  It may be easier to tell you what we don't sell...ha!  How about I just share some pictures from our booths at the Grapevine Antique Mall.
Need a chair or maybe ten?
How about a trunk?
Shutters are great to decorate with.  We have columns too.
Perhaps an entire collection of birdhouses in one stop?
If you are in or near the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, come shop the mall - we promise there is something for everyone!

Buchanan's - Day Two

We had another great day at Buchanan's Antique Market in Lewisville.  We plan to be back there in November so stay tuned for details!

Today was not quite as busy and I was able to spend some time checking out the other vendors.  There was a great selection of merchandise and I got a few treasures to bring home.

I was SO excited to get to meet Lori of My Heart with Pleasure Fills today!  Thanks for stopping by Lori!

I'll be posting August events next week.  Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Buchanan's Antique Market

Today was our first day of Buchanan's Antique Market and their first day at a new loaction in Lewisville.  Buchanan's has been in Fair Park and Market Hall for many years and we hoped they would have a following.  Well, they must because both the vendor and shopper turnout was GREAT!

The vendors from the Old Red Lumberyard were all set-up together and it was so fun.  Here are some pictures from our booths:

Mine and mom's space.
We used an old door to hang things since we didn't have walls.

We used a ladder with wood pieces wrapped in burlap for shelves.

Brandy's booth (Pocket Full of Heirlooms)

Vincents's space (Good Look)

Rick's space (Treasure Spotters).
A highlight of the day was getting to meet a blog friend, Denis of Ruby Grace's!

The Market is open again tomorrow from 11-5:00.  There are still plenty of treasures to be had!

Don't Miss Out!

Plan to come to Buchanan's Antique Market in Lewisville on Saturday (9-5:00) or Sunday (11-5:00).  There will be a special section just for the Old Red Lumberyard Junk Market vendors!  And did I mention air-conditioning - totally worth the price of admission (which is $5)!  Find us at 2460 I-35E in the strip center with Toys R Us and Academy.  Plenty of parking, over 150 vendors and here is a sneak peak of a few things I'm bringing:

See that vintage picnic basket?  And the awesome fishing basket?  How about the cool folding stool down there?  Oh, and that fun galvanized pail with the #3 and a starfish?  My mom is bringing tons of awesome treasures and check out the Old Red Lumberyard Facebook page for pictures of more wonderful things!

Don't miss out!
