Side Table - Before & After

This might be the first time I've had "before & after" in a post title because I'm so bad about remembering to take before photos!  I picked up this little side table at a thrift store last week.  I thought it had potential - some good details.

I found a great color of paint in the mistints at Lowe's so I strayed from the chalk paint on this piece.

I sanded and applied glaze.  I love the shape of the legs, the shelf and the drawer.

What have you been working on this weekend?

Antique Alley

I mentioned the Antique Alley Show on my April Events post.  Mom and I had never been before, but it worked out for us to go yesterday.  Several other friends joined us and we all had a blast and came back with a couple of truck loads!  The event runs approximately 35 miles from Maypearl, TX to Cleburne, TX with many stops along the way (Faith Meadows, Burds Nest, Whipp Farm).  Check out this site and this site for more information.

I hate that I didn't take pictures of the fields full of tents and treasures.  But, I did take a picture of my favorite purchase!
Isn't she a beauty?  Chippy white paint, great green paint revealed...

Original hardware...

All the little shelves in tact...

And last, but certainly not least - original casters!
I like to imagine that a sweet family stored jars of jelly in this little cabinet.  I do plan to sell her since my dream farmhouse is years away, but I just might have to be picky about where she ends up!  And I'll need right of first refusal to purchase her back if they ever tire of her!

The next Antique Alley event is September 21st-23rd!

Worthy of Sharing!

I SIMPLY HAVE TO SHARE THIS WITH YOU!

I discovered Mandy (I'm pretending her middle name is Crimea) Rivers and her blog South Your Mouth - okay stop - is that not the cutest?  I'm occasionally interested in recipe blogs so I spent some time checking it out - well, I can't tell you the last time I read a recipe and almost peed in my pants from laughing so hard - oh wait, I can - it was Friday when I first read her blog!

So now I'm stalking South Your Mouth.  Stalking in a good way - ya know like when you stalk the weekend weather because you are having a garage sale or when you stalk your online banking to see if your tax refund has been deposited yet - that kind of stalking.

Do yourself a favor and go check out her blog.  Not only can you get a recipe for shrimp & grits, but you can read her hilarious accounts of life with her onions, her ninja and more.  She's from South Carolina, she can throw out a cuss word and it's charming rather than vulgar, she loves Southern-fare and can cook - I mean really, what's not to love?

I don't know Mandy personally, but I can tell you that she brightened my day on Friday and again today - so I had to share!

Paris Grey Hutch

Hi friends - hope you all had a great weekend!  It's baseball season and that always means less time for painting and projects around here.  I did find time yesterday to get this hutch (top only) painted.  I'm sure it's no surprise to you, but I failed to take a "before" picture - I'm the world's worst!

I painted it one coat with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Paris Grey.  I painted the inside two coats and used Duck Egg Blue on the backing so that items stored inside will pop.  It has two adjustable shelves and I wiped those with poly in a Satin finish for added protection.  I sanded it quite a bit with a sanding block and applied a custom-color glaze.

I love the shape and it's a great size for a small table or desk.  This photo was taken in my garage so I didn't stage it for you, but I did move the buckets of baseballs out of the way : )

Happy Easter!

Easter is my favorite holiday!  We've had a great day that started with a lakeside church service.  We had brunch at Screen Door in the Dallas Arts District - described as a "Modern Southern Restaurant".  The decor was modern, but the food was just good Southern!  I wish I would have thought to take pictures of our meals - Hubby had chicken and waffles and I had shrimp and grits.

After brunch, we headed to the Dallas Arboretum for the last day of the Dallas Blooms Show.  We got to tour everything just before the downpour started.  Here are just a few photos:

I hope that you have all enjoyed time with family today.  I pray that you either learned or were reminded about the magnitude of God's grace today.  Happy Easter!
