Petite table

My day has been spent on lots of painting projects!  I have one small project complete to share - but I don't have a before picture - dang it!  This small table (14x17) was previously being used as a footstool.

I love the shape of the legs.

The top had been re-worked and I had to get a little creative.  I added some cute fabric with one of my favorites - fleur dis lis.

I think this little table will add some cheery French charm to someone's home!

FINALLY!

I finally have my very own copy of the new Flea Market Style magazine!!  I'm pretty sure mom and I have our photos posted alongside other "suspicious shoppers" at our local Kroger store since we've been stalking their magazine section daily - ha!

Gonna go take in each and every word & photo - already excited to know that many of my blog friends got mention in the mag - be back with you later!

Table Update

A couple of posts ago I shared pictures of several tables I'm working on for a client.  Two have been delivered and two more are complete.

Here is a quick update on one of them.

This is a great 2-tiered table after prime and paint.

And here she is aged to perfection and ready for delivery.

Hope you are all having a wonderful week!

Old Red Lumberyard Antique & Vintage Sale

Mom and I went to McKinney today and visited the Old Red Lumberyard Antique & Vintage Sale.  For my friends who couldn't make it to the sale here are some photos:

It's a good thing I took this picture when I did because I think the large mirror and the columns sold shortly after.
See that gorgeous pitcher?  That came home with me!

Loved that headboard!

There is something for everyone.

So, you want to check it out next month right?!

Tables, tables and more tables

For a while I seemed to have nothing but chairs to paint for clients and now I have tables galore!  Here is a sneak peek of what I've been working on (these were taken in our garage so ignore the unsightly backgrounds).

The tables are all at various stages - some are almost complete, some just primed and others painted but waiting for sanding/glaze/stain/poly.

I don't have any true "before" pictures, but a couple of these are going to change a lot so I'll be sure to take good "after" photos.

Hope your weekend is off to a great start!

Cottage Style

I went to Lowe's at lunch today to pick up some painting supplies and couldn't resist purchasing the new Cottage Style magazine that was cleverly displayed at the check-out.

The magazine is page-after-page of inspiration.  Here are a few of my favorites:

Did you happen to notice there are mirrors in each of these?  Love those columns too!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Strike a chord

I had a first this weekend.  A coworker asked me to take a look at a piano to see if I could do something to make it look better since it had taken up residency in their living room.  A P-I-A-N-O - really?  So I did a little research on the internet and I read that you should never paint a piano - no good explanation was given but I'm a girl that typically follows the rules.  So I check out the piano - which for the record has no special meaning, not a family heirloom, etc.

I was thrilled to see the super simple design - no carvings or major detail.  So, the rebel in me comes out and I painted it - with their blessing of course!  I painted it black and then used a custom glaze with a bit of metallic paint.

They recovered the bench and they plan to hang a large mirror and decorate the top of the piano.  They have a new surface to decorate - how fun!

And thankfully, the keys worked just fine afterwards!

Hi Ho Silver!

If you've been following my blog for awhile you know I've been collecting great, tarnished and time-worn pieces of silverplate.  I needed a good way to display my treasures and my china cabinet was hiding most of it.
I got this great little barley twist tea cart from a vendor that was closing out his space.  It was painted white - and I mean like 5 coats of thick white paint.  Since I thought completely sanding was more than I was up for, I decided to paint it.

The tea cart is tucked away in this inset corner of our dining room.

I have one other display of my silver to share with you soon!

Home Tour for BFF Part 3 - Master Bedroom

If you missed Part 1 go here and for Part 2 go here.  Moving on to the master bedroom - there have actually been quite a few changes in this room since my best friend's last visit.

The linen panels are a new addition.  I love the softness and the amount of light they let in.

I've posted on these porch columns and our new headboard previously.  You can also see the recently added mirror on the top drawers of our nightstands.

I've also posted on my collection wall of antique frameless mirrors before - LOVE!

The paint/Mod Podge treatment on our armoire is a very recent project.  See that VERY OLD mirror on top - that's good stuff huh?

I never say a room is "complete" but I'm loving the recent changes to our bedroom!

Snow Day Projects

One day this week I was trapped at the house - I mean literally - the local police shut down the main road outside our neighborhood as it was not passable due to the ice.  Our neighborhood has one way in and one way out so I enjoyed the day at home.  Take a look at what kept me busy:

I've had these acorns for years but I decided they needed to be accented with a little metallic paint in titanium.

I jazzed up this frame with some fun ribbon and a little hot glue.

And I made a third mini book-page wreath.

If I get another snow day, I should really use it to clean and organize!

Missed Forecast

So, the forecast that called for "a light dusting to possibly 1 inch of snow" was a bit off as we actually got about 6 inches of snow!

It is pretty, but I'm ready to unthaw!

Updated Chair

Remember this post when I shared with you how much I loved the chair I had just finished painting for a client?

Well, I meant it and I painted our little chair that resides at the planning center (this is what our builder titled it on the house plans and I've called it this ever since) in our kitchen with the same treatment.

This chair used to be black.  I like the contrast to the wood floors and this color is throughout our kitchen.

If you want to make a change you don't have to buy something new - just paint!
